You can control and download the popular Rion NL- 32/22 remotely over the GSM network using RCDS (Remote Control and Download Software) and downloads can be initiated (and the meters restarted) automatically using ARDS (Auto Remote Download Scheduler).
If you are not downloading Rion instruments remotely, there's no need for download leads, bespoke software or dongles because most Rion instruments store the data as comma delimited text files which can be readily imported into spreadsheets. In a way it is the fact that you can use Rion instruments without any dedicated software that most defines Rion's approach. You don't have to learn how to use a new piece of software to analyse the data off Rion instruments, you can use the programs you are already familiar with, such as Excel.
We can, however, provide some excellent software tools to streamline the task of analysing data from Rion Instruments.
The most straightforward of these are the Excel Macros for sorting data from the Rion NL Series, the Rion NA-28 and the Rion VM-54.
The Macro for the NL Series [link]streamlines the already quick task of pulling auto-stored data into ExcelTM and quickly sorts and graphs data from the Octave/Third Octave (NX-22RT) and FFT Narrow Band Analysis (NX-22FT) options.
There are 7 Excel macros currently available for the Rion NA-28.
NA-28 Data Management Macro. The comma separated text file data can be pulled straight into Excel from the NA-28 (either via USB or the instrument's memory card) but the instrument's comprehensive measurement capability makes the spreadsheet format rather complex. The NA-28 Data Management Macro enables you to choose the parameters you want to look at and how you want them presented quickly, easily and flexibly.
NA-28 RT Time Macro. This quickly and easily calculates T20 and T30 times from NA-28 Auto 1 data.
Approved Document E and ISO 140 Macros [link] for processing data from the NX-28BA Building Acoustics Option and graphing it in accordance with ISO 717.
NX-28FT Graphing Macro. This graphs the 8000 line FFT spectra from the NX-28FT narrow band analysis option data files.
NX-28FT Tonal Analysis Macro. This analyses data from the NX-28FT narrow band analysis option for the NA-28 in accordance with Annex C of ISO 1996-2 providing an objective assessment of the prominence of tones in noise.
The Macro for the VM-54 streamlines the already quick task of pulling auto-stored data from the Whole Body Vibration option (VX-54WB1) into Excel and quickly sorts and graph data from the Octave/Third Octave and FFT Narrow Band Analysis (VX-54FT) option.
NL-22PB1 for the NL-32/22 and NA-28PA1 for the NA-28 are data management software. These pull together the level data and present them as level against zoomable time graphs and synchronise recorded audio data. The presence of audio recordings show up as icons on the level time graphs enabling you to select and play the audio files whilst you are reviewing the data.
If you want to carry out further analysis on the calibrated wav files recorded by the NA-28 or wav files
recorded using the DA-20 or DA40 multi-channel data recorders you can use Prosig DATs Lite or DA-20PA-1.
You can also carry out some limited analysis on audio files from the DA-20, DA-40 and NA-28 using the free of charge DA-20 and DA-40 Viewer Software.
